In Josie and the Pussycats Tara Reid had the opportunity to show to the world that she represents more than just a very beautiful body, she had the chance to show she can be more than an actress and that she could have success as a singer, too. Looks are important, so is sex-appeal, but in order to gain success in a place like Hollywood an actress needs more than these. And in the case of Tara Reid, it is a pity that she failed to demonstrate that she really has talent. Due to her catastrophic apparitions in some of the movies in which she starred, her career is not that successful as she may want. And in order to make things worse, the actress seems to have other types of issues, drug and alcohol-related. In the last years she has seen many times wasted and in the multiple occasions she was seen on the beach, it was easy to notice that her body was seriously affected by her unhealthy lifestyle and by the many operations that she had in order to enhance her beauty. Unfortunately, all her troubles got her to a point where she has small chances to make it as an actress, but as she demonstrated in Josie and the Pussycats, she can have a bright future in the music industry, if she wants.
In the movie, Tara Reid actually plays the drummer of a successful band called The Pussycats. Her character’s name is Melody Valentine, she is sweet, but very absent and dreamy. The band is a teen group who meets an apparently successful producer who offers the girls a great deal. They move to New York and the band is renamed Josie and the Pussycats, after the vocalist, Josie. The girls, Melody (Tara Reid) and Valerie, the bassist are frustrated by the fact that they don’t make a team anymore and begin to suspect that something is happening behind their backs. Josie begins to desire to sing on her own, but she soon realizes that she is influenced by the subliminal messages inserted by their producer in their own music. When she figures out what it actually happens, the girls reveal the conspiracy in which they were caught and sing for their fans in a great concert at the end of the movie. Although Tara Reid appears like the drummer, she also sings and she is credited on the soundtrack of the film.
The soundtrack of the movie was released in 2001 by Sony Music Soundtrax and Playtone Records. Despite the fact that the movie was a box office loss, the album was very well received. The film was considered a flop, but the album was certified with gold and was sold in more than 500,000 copies in the United States of America. Maybe Tara Reid should have thought about a music career rather than one in acting right then.
Even if Reid didn’t take the decision to try her luck in the music industry, she is still in time. Her one and only problem right now is her reputation, as many people associate her image with that of the actress that is unsuccessful and drinks to forget about it. The fact that she also faked a marriage and seemed lost and confused when asked about it didn’t helped either, but with a lot of work, she may still achieve fame. Reid is young and has her whole life ahead of her, so an important change only depends on her.
If you want to hear the actress singing with the band from the movie Josie and the Pussycats, you have the chance to do it and you can decide for yourself if she would have more success in music than she presently has in acting:
